Brain Injury Association of MA

Our speaker will be Stephen Machnik , a brain injury survivor, who is a spokesman for the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA). Stephen was injured in a skiing incident in 1995. He has had many setbacks, as well as triumphs, related to this unfortunate accident many years ago. He will share with you some more intimate details about how his brain injury has affected him in his life, as well as talk about brain injury awareness in general and will be sure to give you info about BIA-MA. A private, nonprofit organization, BIA-MA provides Support & Resources to brain injury survivors and their families; Prevention Programs to educate the public on the impact of brain injuries; Education & Training for brain injury survivors, caregivers and professionals; and Legislative Advocacy for improved community services and safety laws (seat belts, helmets). |

Enjoy a hearty breakfast while honoring our veterans. Everyone is welcome to attend. Breakfast is $5 per person and will include pancakes, sausage, eggs, and potatoes. All veterans are FREE. The breakfast, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Nashoba Valley, will feature brief presentations from the Stow Boy Scouts, Senator Jamie Eldridge, and State Representative Kate Hogan. The keynote speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel Robert Grudziecki, who will speak about his experiences during the Vietnam War. He provided combat support to Naval Operations in the Yankee Station, located in the Gulf of Tonkin, and gained combat experience in several battles. Upon completion of his tour in Vietnam and the Navy, he joined the Massachusetts Air National Guard, attended the Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in Tennessee, and remained in the Air National Guard until 2000, completing 25 years of service. Lieutenant Colonel Grudziecki retired from military service in February 2008 and from the federal civil service in June 2015, having served almost 43 combined years and earning numerous military awards and decorations. Lieutenant Colonel Grudziecki remains active as a volunteer in Leominster, MA, including serving in leadership positions in several veterans’ organizations. Domestic Violence Awareness

Our speaker will be Suze Mason, who runs a domestic violence awareness page on social media called Voice, which promotes and provides safe discussion of and resources for domestic violence. She became an activist for domestic violence awareness at age 10, and acted as liaison for her high school's counseling department, responsible for stocking informational pamphlets and resources readily available for students. She hopes to one day broaden her horizons by becoming a motivational speaker in public schools and share her personal experience with domestic violence and how she survived, and reach as many people as possible.

The Rotary Club of Nashoba Valley is hosting its third annual Power of Change event to honor Budget Buddies, which provides financial education for low-income women in Lowell, Lawrence, and Nashua. Budget Buddies seeks to give low-income women greater control over their financial futures through a robust six-month program that combines instructional workshops with one-to-one mentoring by volunteer coaches. In its first six years, Budget Buddies has partnered with 19 social service agencies to deliver 35 programs and has trained more than 275 coaches to serve nearly 400 low-income women. |

Open Door Theater

Our speaker is Open Door Theater President J. Samatha (Sam) Gould. Open Door Theater is located in Acton, where it produces one large-scale (usually musical) theatrical show every year. Its cast size can be as high as 100 people, and its crew as large if not larger. Its organization is about bringing together a community of theater people who want to have fun and enjoy each other as they rehearse and perform.

You will combine rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a flavoring mix, including 21 essential vitamins and minerals, into small meal packages. The meals are then shipped around the world to support school feeding programs and crisis relief. The food is stored easily, transports quickly, and has a shelf-life of two years.
