Reflection – Nanci - Nanci asked us all to consider doing a small or big thing to help people we know or might not know every day.  

Happy & Sad Fines - Laura S Partied with all her old friends for 3 days in Ohio, misses her husband and weeded her garde; Rick had family visiting from everywhere and was happy to be around to appreciate it; Elena from Wachusett Rotary was happy to be there;  Richard was happy to be with 2 of his 4 grandkids, Howard is happy to be invited to the Snowbird chapter in Florida club, reminded us about the story in the Rotary Magazine about life in the inner city and the outlook and how he hopes Rotary can make some inroads in helping more; Rich was sad for his nephew going back to Iraq on deployment, happy for their 46th anniversary and happy for their daughter who quit her bad job and got a new one right away; Mary for Jacky extending for 3 months; Caroline for groundbreaking in Ashburnham, middle son having his first paying gig at the Middle East in Cambridge; Jackie for her mom being accepted into assisted living, family being around, Ray for this 4 mo old grandson feeling better and out of hospital, sad that sister in law had a minor but scary stroke; Ron for Wachusett’s check for the Ghana project; Bill P for new company and for getting his dad to be able to throw out first pitch at Paw Sox game; Nanci sad about shoulder surgery coming in August, happy about going to Munich and Vienna next week; Steve D happy for wife Joanna speaking at the state house for Little Lungs Bill, his brother in Pan Mass Challenge next week; Bob had lots of time with amazing granddaughter and for RYLA’s huge success.

Service - Food Pantry Drives – Aug 24th – Howard- Stuff a Cruiser - hoping to exceed last year’s numbers! ,  Sept 14th - JoAnne - Stuff a Cruiser

RYLA – Recap -  Bob - sponsored 5 delegates this year and had an outstanding time.  Would love to find a way to bring one of Razia’s girls next year!  

Polio – Carol – Lowell Spinners Night August 9 - big event to raise money district wide.

Social – *Looking for In meeting service Ideas

Scholarships – Rita - would love to meet recipients but hard to do because of timing

Foundation – Rich - Paul Harris $7000 pin to Howard for his generous contributions to the foundation over the years.   Howard pointed out that 99% of the money that is donated to this goes directly to helping people via various Rotary approved projects.  Excellent and efficient way to make a difference with your money.  

Habitat for Humanity/Caroline - Aug 15th in Lancaster is the 0.0 race sponsored by Bull Spit Brewery, Aug 16 is Golf Tourna,ent, Oct 24 is Wine, Whiskey and Beer tasting.  Goal this coming year is at least 24 critical home repairs.  

Youth – John ( Maynard) & Carolyn ( Nashoba) - quiet now - summer

Fundraising – Jacky ( Brewfest) – Job Assignments - will be sending an email to sign up for shifts

GRANTS – Steve, Rich & Ray - Kenya is in 2nd set of revisions, Ghana is in draft application and Columbia grant is at district level now.  

Membership – Mary & Nanci – New Membership Training Dates October 3 and April 4th = super helpful to newer members to get them up to speed.  

Repair Cafe - Made AARP’s magazine for tips to save money!  Next one is November 9 but there is a Bicycle safety and skills clinic in Bolton on Sep 28 too.

SPEAKER: Helena Donlevy from Wachusett Club- Happy Children Happy India - Have raised $93K to fund two things:  initially vacinate 750 young women to prevent cervical cancer and educate them, their families and teachers about the danger and easy prevention and the other part of the grant goes to surgery for 50-60 young people in India who need it.
